The calculated fuel economy of the last tank was 43.8 mpg. The bike showed 44.5 mpg. Bike feels right to me up to about 75 mph. It does get a bit buzzy after 80 mph. D4 driving lights.BMW flat-out did an excellent job making the F850GS feel smaller and more compact while not cramping up the rider or making my 6’2″ frame feel oversized. The gas tank is down to 4.0 gallons (previously 4.2 gallons), but when coupled with a theoretical 57 mpg fuel consumption rating, your range anxieties should subside.
With that much fuel onboard range is rarely a concern. In a mix of spirited pavement and off-road riding, I saw an average of 41 MPG. That’s a far cry from the 50 MPG that BMW claims. But even at 41 MPG, that’s almost 324 miles of range. Filling the tank and seeing the fuel computer report 320+ miles range always made me smile. It's actually fairly matched with the Ducati when riding fast and will walk away from the GSA 1200, VFR and Tenere if it has the room to stretch its legs. It also doesn't feel as wide as a GSA when you are on it and its a bit shorter as well. To top it off, there is a really good Triumph dealer about 40 miles away. 2v2fecg.
