There was a seriously bad batch of injectors for all 1.8TDCIs in 2008, may extend into 2009.
Problem one: A few months ago i noticed the clutch was sounding noisy with a rattle sound but it only did it very occasionally. This is now all of the time and when i took it to the garage they said that it was the Dual Master Flywheel and advised that i didn't need to change it yet as it is very expensive and i was fine driving it.
coming from a 1.6 tdci it will probably feel abit more agricultral, as its an 8v engine and older in terms of design. realiability wise its probably the best out of the diesels, as its a non-DPF engine, other than the common focus mk2 problems the only thing to be aware of for this engine is the DMF, if its not been changed already it might be worn out, signs are vibrations or rattling noises
I was looking into the engine bay of my 2007 1.8 tdci focus because of the oil leak I have on top of my transmission (will opean a separate thread for that) and thought I will just start a car and listen a bit how everything sounds. That was when I heard a noise from the camshaft belt case that sounds like a sprocket grinding with the plastic

Afternoon all, haing spent several hours this morning replacing the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, top gearbox mount and cleaning the sensors I discovered what I assume to be gearbox oil slowly forming/dribbling off the bottom of the box. It must be gearbox oil as the filter and all the oil relate
